Approach
In my role, I focused on challenging the core functionalities of the Industrial Cybersecurity (ICS) Portal to ensure they met the needs of professional users while enhancing security and usability. I explored the opportunity space to identify potential improvements and innovative solutions.
Iterating on Prioritised Features: I developed multiple iterations of the core features, refining them through a user-centered design approach.
User Testing: Each iteration was rigorously user tested to gather insights, validate decisions, and ensure the features aligned with real-world needs.
Exploring New Opportunities: I worked to identify and explore potential enhancements to the platform, pushing the boundaries of what was possible within the system’s functionality. This allowed us to refine the user experience and support Siemens Energy's security goals more effectively.
Solution
The Industrial Cybersecurity (ICS) Portal successfully simplified security management by providing specific functional modules within a central repository. This centralization allowed tasks and outcomes to be stored, evaluated, and documented, improving internal processes and enabling seamless project management across Siemens Energy’s business units.
A key aspect of the portal’s success is the agile development process. Siemens Energy is able to roll out regular updates, allowing for continuous testing and refinement of both functionality and design. This iterative approach ensures the solution evolves in line with user needs and cybersecurity advancements, keeping the system efficient, secure, and future-ready.
