ECHO

Turning clinical trial data into clearer day-to-day decisions

ECHO (real-name confidential) is an internal platform developed for Medical Liaisons (MLs) and Clinical Medical Managers to assess clinical site performance and support the successful delivery of clinical trials. The tool provides actionable insights into enrolment, retention, and patient health data, while improving collaboration with investigators through clearer, more timely information.

Challenge

Medical Liaisons face significant challenges when navigating clinical trials across multiple sites. Limited access to up-to-date enrolment and retention data made it difficult to engage effectively with investigators and proactively support recruitment efforts. In addition, the lack of clear visibility into participant health measurements restricted meaningful, data-driven conversations and hindered informed decision-making.

Approach

The project began with close collaboration with Medical Liaison stakeholders in the US, including on-site visits to clinical locations to understand day-to-day site operations. Through qualitative research and shadowing sessions, clinical trial workflows were explored and user journeys mapped, helping identify critical pain points and high-value tasks for Medical Liaisons and Clinical Medical Managers.

Insights from this discovery shaped a holistic view of the site operations ecosystem, with design progressing iteratively through high-fidelity prototypes, tested with end users, and delivered in an agile development process with product and engineering teams to ensure a technically robust, scalable, and implementation-ready solution.
